We should be immensely proud to live in a country where any natural-born citizen can become the President. The election of Barack Obama, a black man in a predominantly white nation, showed that in 2008, the American people were willing to choose the candidate they believed was best for the job, regardless of skin color. While many may debate his policies, the fact that he was elected is a testament to the progress we've made as a society.
However, today feels different. The push to support Kamala Harris seems to be driven more by her gender and skin color than by her qualifications. Is this really a valid reason to elect someone as President? Her policies are just a continuation of the direction we've seen over the last four years, which have been disastrous in many ways.
As a real estate investment firm, we see firsthand how these policies have impacted the economy. Since 2020, in our own portfolio, property values in Florida have increased by 50% to over 100%. While this might seem like a success, it's come at a cost. To keep up, we've had to raise rents significantly. Our average monthly rent has jumped from $1,087 in 2020 to $1,782 in 2024 — a 64% increase in just four years. We're trying to keep rents low, but the reality is that the market costs forces us to adjust.
We're concerned about the future of the American Dream. The working middle class, who once had a fair shot at homeownership, vacationing, and a secure savings account, are being squeezed out. Personally, if this decline continues, I’ll be just fine. With the high property prices, I could just sell everything and it would be like winning the lottery—a lump sum I could either invest elsewhere or live out my life in comfort. However, that’s not why I started this company. I wanted to create something real, lasting, and beneficial to our community. Yet, the current trajectory threatens that vision as property prices and costs keep rising, while there’s not enough room to increase income for the average household.
If you vote for Kamala Harris, you’re endorsing a continuation of policies that make life harder for ordinary Americans. Voting based on a candidate's skin color or gender is misguided at best. And if you believe you get who you vote for, think again. Kamala Harris is not equipped to lead this country. There’s an apparatus behind her that’s pulling the strings, and they do not have our best interests at heart.
Say what you will about Trump’s personality, but I believe his policies are what this country needs. I’m looking forward to the day we can lower rents and offer more support to our tenants like we used to. We were happier, our tenants were happier, and that’s the America I want to see again. With Trump, you’ll actually get who you vote for. Just wait and see how the Democrats have to backtrack on their promises.
And what is all this nonsense about our future Vice President JD Vance being "weird"? It does seem like a deliberate attempt to marginalize or belittle him, which can be frustrating to witness, especially when it detracts from the actual issues at hand. Such tactics can feel like a way to avoid meaningful discussion by focusing on superficial or irrelevant critiques. To me, it sounds like the kind of bullying some teenage girls do to make someone feel like an outsider that doesn't belong. There’s nothing weird about Vance that I can see. He struggled his way out of poverty and has an extraordinary life story. What’s weird? I don’t see it.
I’m voting for Trump, and I encourage everyone else to do the same.
